Open Door Shelter / Manna House Kitchen
On the second Tuesday of every month, WPC members prepare and serve food at the Open Door Shelter.
The mission of the shelter is to provide safe, sanitary shelter care to homeless men, women, and families; to assist shelter residents in searching for housing, jobs, counseling and treatment; and to foster residents’ growth toward independence and responsibility.
The shelter also operates, on premises, a breakfast, lunch and dinner Soup Kitchen called the “Manna House of Hospitality”. Through the Manna House soup kitchen, over 12,000 meals per month are served.. The Shelter’s hours are from 5:30 PM to 9:00 AM for single residents and 24 hours a day for families. It is open seven days a week. On average 91 people stay at the Shelter per night, and it is frequently full.
